So I finally got my hog trap up and running. Baited it with lots of Mumme's corn and sprinkled inside liberally with Big Red and strawberry jello. Hey, too much is just enough, right? I had this trap anchored down with two heavy duty re-bar T bars all the way into the ground. I figure the trap weighs about 100 lbs. I had a couple of heavy boulders on top of the trap. Well...this guy could have cared less. As you can see he moved it. And moved it. And moved it. In fact, I initially thought someone had stolen the trap. I could not find it. I even called up my buddy and told him so. Anyway, I started thinking about it and something just didn't add up. So I kept searching deeper into the brush. I finally found the trap completely upright, about 45 yards away in heavy brush. And as I backtracked, I could see where the hog had pushed it. He knocked down stands of prickly pears, small saplings, brush, etc. The trap was upright with the door closed...and with no hog. An old rancher once told me that a big hog could just tear up heavy metal if he wanted to. Now I know just how strong and tough these guys are. By the way, I know this pig was not poached, because it is still coming up on my game camera. He literally fought his way out of the trap somehow. Really wish I had some photos of that epic battle! Lol. Suffice to say, next time I will anchor it much better.

Maybe you should add a GPS locator to your trap...when it starts moving, you know to go check it.

I had a similar experience, except in my case a large boar would push the trap away and then eat the corn I'd put in it.
I now use five T-posts to anchor each box trap! Two on the long sides and one in the back.

Trap has no floor. I had read that you don't want that because they hogs feel it and then get spooked. I think it would have helped in this case.
