Well, went to yantis
700 release pheasants towershoot.
20 guys
Shot 78.
Amazing day.
Put some 3 inch and 2 3/4 to the test, and let me tell you: i am DONE with 3 inch.
Patternmaster with cheap 2 3/4 herters are awesome.

Anyway, one 11 yr old kid was eyeballing my metrogun today.
After asking permission from his dad, he took my metro and shot 12 pheasants with 15 shots.
I was impressed, and called me yes sir, thank you sir all day.
THAT made my day!
Wake up at 6 am tomorrow and 460 release bird at greystone.

Release birds? Does that mean they raise them and turn them loose for you to shoot at?

How do the anti HF people feel about that? roflmao

Actually watched it this evening for the first time with Marcus Spears lil hunting show "best of" episode. Seems kinda like skeet shooting, only you can eat the birds afterwards!

PULL! Dinner time!

I hunted them up in the Panhandle like this a few years ago. It's not like the birds are trapped and can't leave the area. Folks have been hunting areas with released quail for decades. This is no different.

They throw them from a tower at shoot them. It's not my cup of tea, but I don't object to others who do it.

Well at least he called it a shoot, and not a hunt.

I'm not a bird hunter and didn't know that they did stuff like that. Do they release them once at a time? If so isn't it like shooting clays?

I'm not saying it's bad btw, just curious.

You pay for the hunt fixed price.
You rotate 10 stands. I was lucky yesterday and shot 72 out of 700 and 69 today out of 400 released.

On a 400 bird release, they typically release 2 at a time.
On a 500-700 bird release, 3 at the time.
Its harder then shooting clays, depending on the wind.
I was shooting patternmaster duck and nr 4 yesterday to pick some high ones.
When its windy, your shots will range between 40 and 80 plus yards downwind...
Today was easier, 20-40 yard shots.
Its very addicting. Its a shoot, not a hunt.

Its target practice at live game. Clay pigeons are hard and a little gritty.

Or grocery shopping for live game. grin

I'd much rather do the killing and dressing myself than have the butcher do it.

Not much different than shooting a hungry doe under a feeder

I am heading to Upland Bird Country near Corsicana on Friday with work for our annual tower shoot. It is a kick; a blast.
