I sure wish I coul dhave gotton things together and made it to Missouri this year. My bud shot this with some sunglass video camera. Had he not told me what they were I would not have known there was a camera in the glasses.

I'm gun a step right off in this bear trap..

I gave a large group the option of canceling or hunting today, gave them the run down on what was going on, only 200-300,000 geese in mound city (normally holds 1-1.5mil this time if year) but we had only been harvesting 6-12 a day, I had high field of 15 twice before the -2 morning about 6 days ago and after that it's been a grind to say the least. Knowing this group was coming from the Houston area (12 hours) for a one day hunt honestly it was a craps shoot, may shoot 5 might shoot 25+.. I felt that the call was nessisary to keep happy customers as I want my guys to kill more birds than hours they drove. It cost me $1500 canceling said group, as bad as that stung I feel I made the right judgment as my other guide had a group already in town and has liked 6 today... I could have easily not made the calm knowing it was gunna be a busy and made that money to bring home but I'm an honest, fair & reputable outfitter so that option never crossed my mind.

good call Cody...last I heard the 'average" number of snows shot on a hunt down on the prairie is 12, just goes to show how picky these white birds can be

No offense taken matpk!

I knew it was quite a few of your groups first hunt and had heard y'all had a bad hunt down south with 7 birds killed and wanted to triple + that number. That's the reason we travel to this area bc if the bird numbers that normally result in 40-70+ birds per day and we just don't have that yet this year. I'm sure you are aware I didn't charge you all anything even a deposit. I hope next season we can hook back up and give y'all a memorable hunt of a lifetime!

Thanks Cody.I personally would like to utilize your expertise even before that.
When are you starting fishing and which is the closest place to Houston, you do
fishing at.

We will fish from my loaded 2015 Ranger Z520C & 250 ProXs

I supply all the gear but lunch and beverages are not provided.

Matpk, hunt was ok as far as numbers of birds killed goes. I've had better but I've also had much worse. We had a 20 and a 30 and those birds were all killed in the last 45 minutes of each afternoon. There were birds rolling in all yesterday evening (lots of juvies) and up until midnight when we went to sleep. I wish I could have stayed a few more days (or at least this afternoon) because I think it should get real good the next couple days!

Sons and I took our Mound City hunt the 6-8 of this month. Tough going to say the least. Shot 4, 10, and 5 on the three days. Not many birds on the Refuge like there normally is. Weather has been so squirrelly.

On a good note- GOT MY FIRST BANDED BIRD!!! Submitted the band info and found out my bird was a male lesser snow goose banded on Akimiski Island, James Bay, Canada. Neat thing- the little buggar was banded in the year 2000 AS AN ADULT! He was born in 1999 or earlier according to the reporting service.
