I have only been Mule Deer hunting 1 time in Texas, and I had a great time. My Father and I had a 4 day trip on a 20,000+ acre ranch north of Van Horn. Great time...
I am wanting to go on another hunt this Fall, and I was wondering which part of Texas has the best overall Mule Deer? Any suggestions on a particular ranch? Thanks!

The sandhills up in the far northwest part of Texas are great for big Muleys. Some big boys down by Alpine too. I hunted with Desert Safaris in both places last year and saw a bunch of big bucks get shot, and killed a management buck for myself. You're going to spend some $ with them for a big muley, but its first class all the way, and you'll basically have your pick of big bucks. All fair chase.

Big deer in both the trans-pecos and the panhandle.
The panhandle has the larger bucks but I would rather hunt them in the trans-pecos
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

There used to be a muley that roamed a turkey lease that I hunted in Quanah Texas. He was a non typical muley and I am pretty sure he died of old age. There was no talk of anybody in the area killing him. I would go west of Quanah if you wanted more sightings than just one old ghostly buck. I saw a picture of a young guy that killed a huge non typical in a county that borders new mexico. It was definitely a buck of a life time.
Recently got a gym membership, strange folks! I like to show up the roid zombies with my full motion curls with the 55lb. bells. Not their cheater short stroked light weights. It's holarious.

North of Van Horn is the best place in Texas to hunt Mule Deer. Delaware Mountains.

There are some really good Mule Deer in both Trans-Pecos and Panhandle. If you are wanting to go with an outfitter then be prepared to get on a waiting list and spend some $$$$.

Growing up, I always heard Van Horn area was best in TX but that was 30-40 years ago so sure things may or may not have changed...

Big deer in both the trans-pecos and the panhandle.
The panhandle has the larger bucks but I would rather hunt them in the trans-pecos I agree, I'd rather hunt muleys in the trans-pecos. Those deer ob2west posted are some studs.
