So I am seeking any advice or tips or designs on how to build a box blind for bow hunting. Let me explain a little more. It will be only 1 foot off the ground and want it large enough for 2 people and a camera. I was thinking 6X6? I will only be shooting out one direction as the area for this location only allows for shooting out 1 direction. Any ideas or pics would be appreciated!

Needs to be as large as you can afford. 8'x8'x8' tall. I would not make it square but multi-sided for better shot angles. I would not build it square more of an octagon shape of sorts.

Yeah I was thinking pentagon shaped, but only shooting out one side. Planned on shooting sitting as well. Only 1 foot off the ground. Was thinking vertical windows?

I have seen vertical, horizontal and "T" shaped windows. I think the vertical windows work really well. I have seen round, square, octogan, pentagon and some other shapes on bow blinds. I like the ones that are partially buried and rounded on top just hard to keep the water proof. I bought and put up a Midwest Haybale blind this year and really like it for ground hunting. I had one small window in the front that was 8" wide and about 16" tall.(you can put windows where you want and what size you want them) I would think if you can buy a couple of cattle panels(16' long) and have a base welded out of angle iron to attach the panels on in a haybale round shape it will make a great blind. You can cover in a black tarp or plastic then put hay or straw on the outside to make it look like a haybale blind. Won't want to do it with cattle though. I am going to build a larger verison of the haybale blind I bought this year.

The hay bale blinds using a frame and cattle panels work well.

And the area I will put the blind we do not allow cattle back there so this may be a more affordable idea. And beauty is I run a roofing business here in San Antonio so we can waterproof anything.

I bought the 6x6' kit but added treated lumber instead of regular. I will build my own next time and add a larger tarp(to better darken the inside) to it then buy the haybale blanket cover from them. http://www.midwesthaybaleblinds.com/pricing.html

I used indoor/outdoor carpet wrapped around a cattle panel with rebar arched up for the roof. Works great. You can normally pick up the carpet as scrap or even used from your local carpet guy.

One year I took an old 6x6 box blind and on the front shooting side I cut off the top half of the wall. I left wall from about 3ft down to cover my legs and then took netting and hung from the top down to the 3 ft wall. It worked really well and didnt cost me anything. My only problem I had was cows. Im not sure what happened but I guess a cow tried to step over the 3ft wall, stepped inside put a hole in the floor, took a dump inside the blind and tore it down trying to get out. I know that sounds crazy but it was just 3 of us on that lease and no one could believe what happened. I dont think it would ever happen again but when you asked it reminded me of a very funny/frustrating afternoon hunt when I went to go get in.
God is deep but he is not complicated.
