So I had more luck this weekend than ever before and won this set up in a raffle. It is a savage model 110, 338 lapua mag, with a nightforce 8x32x56 nxs, .25 moa, np-r1 reticle I believe, bipod and sight mark lo pro laser.

The gentleman that donated the rifle said he fired it 10x prior to donating it for this benefit raffle.

It's an awesome set up just not sure I have much use for it. Was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what is a reasonable price to ask if I do decide to part with it. I love rifles and scopes, however this is not a set up I am familiar with.
Thanks for your time, Brandon

$2000 gun value new, $2000 scope value new. I say shoot a few boxes of ammo through it then decide if you want to sell it. I'd love to have a 338Lapua but can't afford to feed the beast. I got to shoot that Savage and I enjoyed it, wasn't my favorite of the 338Lapuas on the range that day, but for the price I think it was the best value there. Solid gun for sure

Definately some pretty expensive gear there. I won't be surprised if it shoots as good as any other Savage. But if you are stuck with buying off the shelf ammo, it is going to be expensive to feed. Be like being used to feeding a 14 hand quarter horse, and now you are feeding one of the Budweiser Cyldesdales.

That is one rifle that definately needs hand loads!

Oh, and shooting it inside 800 yards is a waste of ammo IMO. It's built for 1000 yards, plus.

Thanks for the info guys. I reload but don't have a place to go shoot more than a few hundred yards very often. This set up just seems like way more than I would ever use.

Lol, txhogslayer. 1st offer I've had but going to need a little more to fund all the plans I have come up with since winning the rifle.

$550 and a bag of Skittles or M&M's.... clap

I'll even drive to your house to pick it up and save you time and gas having to meet... smile

BTW, there is a guy on TFL that routinely shoots, and hits what he's aiming at, the same rifle at ranges of 1,000-1,800 yards

^What happened to $601???

Keep the offers coming fellas someone will surely come up with the right beer, candy, money and trade combo that I can't pass up.
All kidding aside i initially posted this here 1. Because I was just exicted about winning it 2. To find out what a fair asking price may be if or when I decide to sell it. I was not sure how many people would be interested in something like this as compared to say a savage 22-250 or any other more popular hunting rifle.

The night of the raffle the gentleman that donated the rifle asked me to give him 1st dibs at buying the gun back if I decide to sell it. I plan to do that this week and if he does not want it I will place an add in the classifieds.

Offer it to him for $6500, that's a fair price. If he doesn't take it then I've $1000, plus case of beer and 50lbs of candy

Sure looks like there is a lot of money in it, but the OP has little invested (cost of raffle ticket), and being the fine gentleman that donated the rifle wanted first chance to buy it back, there is no reason to expect him to pay again what he already paid to put the package together. Selling to him, I would say $3k at the most, selling to someone else, closer to $4k...

Exactly what I was thinking precision shooter. The guy that donated this set up is a really good fella so if he wants the rifle back I will take whatever he feels is a fair deal.
If he doesn't I will list it and price it based on the feedback I have received on this forum at what I feel is a fair price.

Keep it and shoot it .. I just recently got a savage 338 and its a fun gun to shoot ! Shot 45 rounds today and shoulder feels fine ! Kicks about like a 308. Super accurate!
