It's what they do. The goal is disarmament, period. They want total federal control in any way possible.

Sometimes I think these clowns start rumors like this just to sit back and watch the gun owners lose their minds and screw each other over. If you think about it, it would probably be pretty entertaining if you were an anti gun douche.

Series of events here guys and it goes like this 1. On Feb 13 the ATF did indeed publish a proposal for comment that would ban M855/SS190 ammo claiming it is armor piercing ammo.... that proposal had a comment period ends March 16th. 2. Second issue is that they also published the 2014 Guidelines and they omitted the M855/SS190 ammo under the sporting exemption ...that's the publication error. That was the RED FLAG that made people think they were going to ban it despite the fact that it was a "proposal" with a comment period. 3. Then on March 10th "ATF announced today that it will not move forward with its proposed framework to ban commonplace 5.56 M855 “green tip” ammunition at this time while it reviews the record number (more than 80,000) comments it has received so far." ATF will continue to accept comments through March 16. NSSF, as the trade association for the firearms industry, looks forward to engaging in a dialogue with ATF to address this issue that led to the now withdrawn proposal. Our industry members hope to meet consumer demand in bringing alternative ammunition products to the market and to continue to sell the popular M855 rifle target ammunition. NSSF continues to strongly urge ATF to grant 32 long-pending petitions to exempt alternative rifle ammunition designed and intended for the hunting market. Here is the link http://www.nssfblog.com/atf-to-not-move-forward-with-5-56-m855-ammo-ban-at-this-time/4. Now just a few days later we see the following" In a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing, ATF Director B. Todd Jones said all types of the 5.56 military-style ammo used by shooters pose a threat to police as more people buy the AR-15-style pistols. “Any 5.56 round” is “a challenge for officer safety,” he said. Jones asked lawmakers to help in a review of a 1986 bill written to protect police from so-called “cop killer” rounds that largely exempted rifle ammo like the 5.56 because it has been used by target shooters, not criminals. So there are a few things happening that are related and sometimes confusing....I should know because I started this post and misread the initial article. Shame on me. So it looks like the ATF got a lot of heat from congress and the public and slowed down, but they have not had any change in their desire to ban the green tip and for that matter all 556 ammo if they had their way.

They might as well ban all rifles then, because anything over a pistol round is "Armour piercing" to a standard issue police vest... Idiots.

I wish my .22-250, 6.5 Creedmoor, 7mm-08, and 7 Rem Mag were all as deadly as the 5.56mm.

Just about any FMJ bullet from a center fire rifle will pierce armor. Idiots. But watch out, Dems are trying through Congress: Banning Law reintroduced

Of course it's been reintroduced.
The line of those wanting to take away the ability of the American people to keep and bear arms and hamper their use is never going to go away. Each generation thinks it's the first to have the "noble" idea of disarmament of the people with the true (and hidden) intent of total control. They are usually the ones that think they and those like them are more "equal" than everyone else and will use ANY excuse to achieve their goals. Semantics seem to be a pretty popular way these days.
It will never stop.

I snagged a few thousand rounds, but I'll also be through them before the fall. There are two types, hoarders and shooters.
