Opinions on leaving ammo in your blind long term. Does the changing temps effect performance? Thanks

Temp is all about the powder. Hand loads with temp stabile powders would be best. I would put them in a plastic ammo box and the box in a zip lock, then in ammo can. Last a hunnerd years.

The main thing would be the changing humidity, which will effect the burn rate of the powder over time. I wouldn't leave it in there, but it will still shoot and do fine. Over time the moisture will reduce the burn rate and make the bullet speeds slower. There's been tests done with ammo left in pools and ponds, and dried off and still fired fine. As long as moisture doesn't get to the primer or powder, you're good.

OK, not trollin but gotta ask.....why would you leave ammo in a blind? Laziness would be the best answer, trying to carry less stuff in and out every hunt. Rethinking that now.

You got a great point though. I'm always wanting to leave stuff in the blind, I hate lugging so much stuff. I usually have my back pack (loaded) and two long guns. big for deer, HB .22 rimfire for turkeys.
