The times we are in, I think holding onto brass is a good idea. If everything goes to plan I may find myself in the thicket shooting into a sounder of hogs as fast as possible with an AR-15. Yall have any experience with brass catchers that still allow you to function with the rifle? There are soft and ridgid varieties aren't there? Never know when I'll get to take the helicopter ride, also.

There ARE soft and rigid. I've never tried the rigid type, they just look too bulky to me. Might be okay. The soft type seem to be okay for range use. If you get it attached and adjusted just right it seems to keep up with brass for the most part. I don't know whether I'd use it while hunting though...too much chance of it causing an ejected case to bounce right back into the action. They're flimsy and probably won't stay adjusted if you're moving around much at all.

Tactical Brass Recovery has the nicest one I've used. Have had one of theirs for 3 years, hunting or the range it works extremely well.

I've got the cheap caldwell one that velcros around the hand guard. Works good.

This is what I use and I like it...nothing's attached to my rifle but if you want one that functions in multiple ways this isn't it. There's just something about the ones that you attach to the rifle that I don't like. But if I shot A LOT at hogs etc then I might get something like it.

Of course I've heard of cows. There's a whole flock of them across the road.
It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

Made my own brass catchers for ours. Had some old weever scope mounts with the thumb wheel that locks them in place on a weever rail. Cut off the other side leaving the two Allen screws and strap that were used to tighten scope. Took a coat hanger and formed a rectangle frame big enough to cover ejection port. Brought the two tails of the coat hanger together, formed and twisted them to where they align with the modified scope mount. Inserted and tightened Allen screws on modified weever scope mount to secure frame. Took a Crown Royal bag, cut it off at about half size. Hand sewed bag to coat hanger frame. Will hold twenty plus rounds no problem, would probably hold close to a hundred, but run 20 round mags. Never lost a piece of brass and never caused a jam. Sorry, no pics as can't remember photo bucket account password any more. Have our scopes mounted with two piece high scope mounts and this fits in between them. Would not work if using a one piece scope mount. First couple I made I used Walmart fish dip nets(for pet fish), but netting didn't last long.
My Yote toys, Ruger 77 22-250 Foxpro 416B & numerous hand calls ************ God would never send Firefighters to Hell because we would put the fire out!

I've noticed which is why I added your comment.. I have made some comments and forgot to add a funny face and people have gotten upset.

I bought a couple from AR15.com. They strap on fairly easily and lay flat against the gun. They'll hold 4 or 5 pieces of brass and are good for hunting.
