This stuff is a no joke powder for my sub-compact XD. I can feel the shockwave hit my face when shooting. I don't mind it too much since it's accurate but don't want to damage anything. I know I could lower the charge but I like my pistol rounds at their fullest velocity.

It shouldn't be any harder on the gun than any other powder unless your pushing too hard.

Could that be cause by an amount of powder that cant be burned completely before the bullet exits? Perhaps too slow a powder?

If you are running an over max load, then you will wear out the frame and springs before you wear out the barrel. But 700X is a good, low charge weight powder for the 40 cal in almost all bullet weights. I wouldn't call it a "I like my pistol rounds at their fullest velocity" powder, since it's a little faster burning. If you want a fast load, pick up some Blue Dot, HS-6, 800X for it, and it will really come alive!

It's at the max load and I'm not really into pushing it over. Just because you said it'll come alive I'm you g to try one of those other flavors. It really felt like I was shooting a .44 with that small pistol.

I guessed you're shooting a .40 S&W and a 165-grain Sierra. Why? Can't say...maybe I remember something I don't realize I remember? Or maybe I missed. Whatever, I can run these for free and I like fooling with it.

Code:
Cartridge : .40 S&W (SAAMI)
Bullet : .400, 165, Sierra JHP FN 8445
Useable Case Capaci: 11.248 grain H2O = 0.730 cm³
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 1.135 inch = 28.83 mm
Barrel Length : 3.5 inch = 88.9 mm

Predicted Data for Indicated Charges of the Following Powders.
Matching Maximum Pressure: 34809 psi, or 240 MPa
or a maximum loading ratio or filling of 115 %
These calculations refer to your specified settings in QuickLOAD 'Cartridge Dimensions' window.
C A U T I O N : any load listed can result in a powder charge that falls below minimum suggested
loads or exceeds maximum suggested loads as presented in current handloading manuals. Understand
that all of the listed powders can be unsuitable for the given combination of cartridge, bullet
and gun. Actual load order can vary, depending upon lot-to-lot powder and component variations.
USE ONLY FOR COMPARISON !

14 loads produced a Loading Ratio below user-defined minimum of 90%. These powders have been skipped.
