Looking for a good gunsmith to bed a walnut stock rifle

not difficult...ck out videos on the net, you might want to try your self. most gunsmiths charge way to much

No offense to any smiths here because they have all my respect but I agree Colt45.

That can be said for most mechanics and repairmen, but its the price you pay for not putting in the time effort and research to do it yourself.

It's a time-consuming job, when done right. The gunsmith charges so much per hour... 40 bucks an hour is typical. - You do the math.

There are some gunsmiths who can do it quickly enough to keep the price down. In the end, it's a decision of paying for the gunsmith's time, or investing your own time. If your time is more valuable than his, then paying the gunsmith is the cheapest way to go.

I think the whole value of your time stance is bs. Unless your going to take off work to do it or it is taking away from your work schedule I don't think it should factor in. To me bottom line is the cost worth what your getting. I work on a lot of my own stuff and cost of time doesn't factor in because once I leave the office im no longer making money.

You must not be self employed. Anytime not at work you are losing money.

Threads like this remind me why I didn't go the direction of general gunsmithing.

My time not working/making money is spent with my family. If I was a single guy with no kids, I'd spend a great deal of my free time Gunsmithing and reloading. Unfortunately, that's not the case. And since my billable hour is worth more what a gunsmith charges, I'm inclined to pay them as professionals, to do it right the first time. Same principle reasoning in why I choose not to work on my own cars.

My gunsmith also sells me parts and accessories at his wholesale prices. no shipping, no waiting, no lines, no BS. just added value to his service.

Sent him a PM with the contact of the Smith I have started using. He builds customs but will take care of other gunsmith work like what was ask for here.

I bed all my own rifles. You tube has some good videos.
This is a very time consuming work.
This is a very rewarding work.
