I have 4 bell and Carlsons and like them as compared to standard Remington and Winchester. But what is the difference between a B&C and say a Manners/McMillian? I hear everyone talking about those often. What is everyone's go to on say a 6.5 rifle for hunting? Is it worth the extra change? Model names to if you prefer the Manhers or McMillian.

If you are happy withy them why change? Just bored and looking for something new? I have neither so I can't help out with this. I have restocked a few of my rifles out of necessity, used Boyd's and HS Precision, both are much better than the factory junk.

I do like the feel of the B&C's over the others for sure. They just feel a lot more solid. I was just wondering what were the advantages of the Manners/McMillians and if the warrant twice the price? I'm not worried about the expense. I build rifles to keep and hand down to my children one day b

Honestly its really a couple factors
1) style
2) you like the moulds they have better than B&C as far as feel
3) weight, a lot of time they are less weight with the lighter fills on a similar stock profile but are still rigid
4) Resale value/ preception
5) the moulded in colors.

I love the GBP stocks made by B&C they feel really nice but I sell 5-1 McMillians to B&C, just the way the market goes.

Good info. What is the average price of an entry-level McMillan to an entry-level B&C?

I'm more familiar with boats. So I'm just wondering if this is one of those "Ranger resale" semi-myths. People buy a $70k Ranger and sell it for $50k down the road easily, and others buy a $40k Nitro and it takes a little while to unload it for $30k. Yes, the Nitro was harder to sell, but the resale was much, much better. Is this that type of situation, or do you get roughly the same delta from your original price when you sell each?

Honest question - you seem to know what you're talking about. And I'll be in the market for a new stock for my Savage 11 in a few months.

I ordered a Manners stock for my Savage 6 months ago and it's still not in. With Savage rifles, manners now asks you to send in your barreled action so they can inlet it correctly. They also pillar bed it for you while it's there. Pretty cool getting a custome stock for it, but in the future I will probably order a Stockade stock. A lot faster turn around time and the money saver option is about a quarter of the cost.

Are there any decent places around central Texas to go get a feel of these different brands/shapes of stocks? I've been tempted to try out a new stock, but I'd hate to order one and not like it.

Yeah, they told me 4 months tops...

Here we are 6 months later and no stock. It wouldn't be as bad if they had some kind of "stock tracker" that showed the stages your rifle stock is going through, but they just keep you in the dark.

I am hoping the stock is as good as they claim.
