Has anyone hunted hogs in the snow? I was planning to go out tonight, but not sure if they still move in the snow. We have several feeders going which they visit regularly in normal conditions.

They wont be far from the bed... most likely be moving before dark. Unless you got a heck of a feed area not far from their nest

I tried two years ago and it was a bust. They didn't move until the snow was almost gone. YMMV

I did in December of 2013. Fun stuff.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

They move in ice/snow - they keep warm by moving and have to eat !

The snow seems to make them active

Shot one last night at 11:30. Ground covered in ice with intermittent rain near near Bonham. Pigs in my area always show up during bad weather...gotta eat to stay warm!

Zoom into this pic. This was Saturday morning. This is a milo field covered in snow. Pic was taken about 200-250 yards away.

In my opinion the best time to hunt hogs during the day light hours is when there is snow on the ground. I have seen years of game cam photos of nocturnal hogs all of the sudden moving during the day when its snowing.

They live in OHIO, they have to get used to the snow and it has to make them want more groceries.

Sure glad you posted this. I was beginning to think I was the only one who had this experience.

bang dang, thats more time than i've spent on stand 2014-2015 deer season. Dont feel so bad now. Some places just dont have as many hogs as others. Here theirs a big differance in hog sittings from last year alone. And at OSBWMA the last few years big difference. Few hogs around here, dogs keep on move. rofl i've got more pics of dogs han deer & hogs put tagether on my trail cams. Dont do no good ta complain. Ones seen this morning had collar. Tried ta get close enough ta see who dogs belonged too. Was at work or would have hit OSBWMA. Know few good spots ta hit. As they say wait a day or two, if theirs food, hogs will be back. i just enjoy hunten hogs. Deer hunten is getting tooooo crazy. flag
