Broke the pin on my .223 die and won't get another one until next week. Can I size the case with the body of the FL and then use the collet for the neck as a stop gap?

What about the spent primer, or maybe I misunderstood.

Yes you can do that but you still have to deal with removing the spent primer.

The collet die has a decapping pin. Too bad these haven't been fired in my gun or I'd just use the collet die.

If they'll chamber after using the collet die, then why not go ahead and load them?

The problem is that the collet die expanded the neck too much making the bullet too loose. I just went ahead and ran them through the full length (minus the expander) to make it work. It only takes a minute or two extra.

Something's not right there. The collet die should prep your case necks properly.
I've sized cases with the expander removed, but I think neck tension suffers unless your case necks are very consistent in thickness.
If you haven't used collet dies before, make sure you read the instructions and understand how they're supposed to work.

Now your neck tension is extremely tight( the way you did it) so as RiverRider said something ain't right.
Be aware that if you load is warm then now it's HOT with that much neck tension.
The Collet die should give proper neck tension when set up correctly.
