If you want to be in South Texas you need to be south of Del Rio. I would look into Maverick County and that would be just west to northwest of Carrizo.

was thinking of getting into an area that had both whitetail and mule deer and I guess I am looking in south west Texas but I am open to about anything within 2-3 hrs of Carrizo. I have a lease in Freestone county, that I am keeping, and live in leon county but am going to be working the next several years out of Carrizo Springs

You will have to go north of Del Rio to get into MD and WT. You will quality of WT the farther north and west you go into that desert habitat. You will have to go 4 hrs north of Carrizo to get into decent MD and average WT(for West Texas).

I appreciate the education, I have never hunted down that way or for mule deer. The hunting where I live and hunt now is great and I have a really good lease close to home but I thought since I was already way down that way I would try and find something different to add to what I do now. I like to hunt period all types and am always looking for something to add to what I have. I also bass fish and tournament fish and I love those south texas border lakes. thanks, now if someone had a place for me that would be great
