I'm going to throw on this one little late but here goes
Pig hunting as a example ,,,,,
Day time hog hunting old school, glass on top of a rifle ( with a wood stock ) pistol with out light ,knife ,water ,snack bar ,walking bottoms looking for wallows
Following trails looking for sheds along the way ,real good refreshing fun ,,,,,

Night time hog hunting ,thermo monocular for scanning ,suppressed ar-15 with night vision scope ,recorder on scope to record shot ,extra batteries for both, flash light on hat ,flash light for tracking or getting Thru thick stuff , water ,snack,iPad,cleaning knife ,tape to measure pigs weight, big ziplock bags to pack out meat if need be ,gloves for cleaning, extra batteries, all in back pack, pistol on hip with light for wounded pigs or the chance you are close enough to shoot one with it
iPad For checking game camera cards while sitting in ground blind waiting for pigs , feeder that has
Camera set to video record impact shot,
Don't have to carry backpack for short sneaks leave in truck

Guess point is both methods are hunting each has its challenges and rewards
Does using the Technology available make a hunter less of a hunter ,think not,u still have to hunt
Is going old school cool sure it is ,teaching my family both
Being versed in both makes a well rounded hunter I would think so
