Looks like I am headed to the hill country sometime between April-June for an axis hunt, with the odds being of shooting another exotic.
What would you do about game processing and taxidermy?

Rhodes Bros is Kerrville does both and Gary there does awesome taxidermy.(he did the deer in my Sig) Tnt Taxidermy is in Ingram and a member, you can look at his work on here. He has my velvet axis right now.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Wenzel Lonestar Meat Company in Hamilton does a good job. And Black Dog Taxidermy there is my first choice in central Texas.

I've had good results from Bernhard and Woodbury, both in Ingram.

Are there any good meat processors in Fredericksburg? What about the Llano/Burnet area?

I have been to his shop in F-burg and he has some amazing work on display.

Yep. I judge people based on what my experience with them is. Not what they did or didn't do in history. His work is incredibly good and reasonably priced. Outstanding guide as well. Almost every taxi has negative reviews. It's a tough business, and hard to please some people.
That said, if my customers are treated wrong by a taxidermist or guide, I take it personally.

I can agree with that. You can't change the past. As long as his work is good and he treats his customers right I guess that is all that really matters.

Wenzel has done Axis for me in June and sausage from whitetail after season. took him some boned out frozen whitetail during turkey season and got Lone Star Brats back. He may have changed that since that was a few years ago. BJ just has his processing business open in deer season. Black Dog taxi, he will take work in year round.

Don't know abt processing but for Taxidermy I tell everyone about Rob Valle west of San Antonio. He's done great work for me, http://www.hillcountrytaxidermist.com/texas-taxidermist-CONTACT.html

This was the first season I've used Wenzel on a recommendation from Newjeep. But I have a whitetail mount 12 years old from BDT that looks like I picked it up yesterday. His work looks lifelike and has lasted well.

Rhodes Taxidermy is pretty good. I have known Gary for a long time and never had a problem with him. I have not used him for the meat processing but the taxidermy work is really good.

Thanks Gents, sounds like we'll get it sorted.
