Robert is a great smith running a really tight ship... I was one of the first ones to come visit their shop. They are putting out some really really cool products at a fantastic price... lots of intestine things in the works that I am not at liberty to talk about. Stop in and talk to the guys you won't regret it... and drool over the 26 nossler they built 2

I think they're pretty busy. I never could get through on Tuesday. Should be a good sign. I'm really wanting one from them too

What kind of intestine things are they building?

They are a ton of help and will spend all day answering your questions! I just dropped off a remington short action with them that is going to be turned in to a 260 AI. I can't hardly wait for the build to be done!!

I may have to put them to the test on the all day part!

I see that several rifles on their site say "Accuracy Guaranteed", but I can't find an accuracy guarantee anywhere on their site. Are they guaranteed to shoot 5 MOA or .25 MOA or somewhere in between?

This is a guy from a user on another site that recently had a 260AI built by Alamo Precision. From what I've seen/heard from Robert, pretty much all of their guns will shoot .5moa, but some may be capable of .25moa. The owner of this gun got a 1.5" group at 400yrds while fire forming his loads.

Out of a 24" barrel this was his load and velocities

130g berger hunting, h4831sc powder, cci 200 primers, lapua brass

45.0 grains - 2674 fps 26 - Extreme sp

46.5 grains - 2769 fps 16 - Extreme sp

49.0 grains - 2886 fps 26 - extreme sp

49.5 grains - 2905 fps 54 - extreme sp and pressure signs

A few of the accuracy pics

It depends. Do you have all the parts and just need them to assemble or do you need to them to order everything for you? Alamo Precision would give you the best answer on this. I know they've got quite a few orders right now, so it might be a bit.

They will be installing a Wyatt's magazine box to hopefully avoid any cycling issues.

Based on those velocities I'd suggest H-4350 instead. My straight up .260 was running 130's @ 2850 fps on a brand new barrel. 200 rounds later and formed brass it was making 2950 fps MV. Why I switched over to 140's after 500 of those 130's.

I was surprised at the velocities as well. Everything I've read says RL 17 and 4831SC are the powders to use with the 260. I may have to check into the H-4350 as well.

JG - are you shooting a 24" or 26" barrel?

Bullfrog - I found a SA Remington from 1973 that I used for the build, there are some decent deals out there if you keep an eye out.

Oh I'm fine with taking mine in! It's just an ADL in 270. I really REALLY. Want to build a 6.5 CM off it.

Or if I can convince a buddy to get me started loading, 6.5X284

An LA 6.5 Creed? Will your's be the first? I've heard of 6.5-284 being
both Long Action and Short Action, but not 6.5 Creedmoore. Any benefits?

I'd have to ruminate 280/280ai in that mix if I had an old LA 700.

While not a 260AI I did play with RL17 in my 7mm-08AI a few weeks ago. I was just short of a node and was seeing 2880 with 162gr Amax. I'm going to see if I can get that into that node but I'm going to wait for summer to go farther into development.

I've know Robert for a while, even before they opened the shop. He's a straight up guy who knows rifles and how to make them shoot little bug holes. If he tells you something you can take it to the bank. You'll never meet a more honest person and you surely won't regret doing business with him. He's got a lot of rifles to build at the moment but my guess is that as more of his work gets out the reported results will cause his backlog to keep getting bigger and wait times longer but it will be worth the wait.
Robert and Jason have a first class shop set up. They are in it for the long haul.

So everybody knows who this guy is, but nobody knows what the accuracy guarantee actually is?

If you're going to make an accuracy guarantee, why wouldn't that be front and center on your website and every other marketing tool you've got?

You seem really concerned with an accuracy guarantee. Do you mean 3 or 5 shot groups? What kind of guarantee would impress you?

I don't know anything about Alamo Precision, whether they do or don't offer a specific guarantee, but I imagine making such guarantees is a royal PITA for any rifle smith.

I wonder how many customers they get who can't produce consistent enough handloaded ammo or shoot well enough to print consistent sub 1/2moa groups. And I'm not saying I can, I just see talk of consistent 1/4-1/2 moa groupings get thrown around a lot and I'm curious...

I realize there are implications that come along with that guarantee. But those implications are no problem for Weatherby and other factory makers. Why should they be an issue for a custom builder charging 3x the price and up?

I'm not making it up. Their website is the one that has "accuracy guarantee" on it. They just never actually say what it is (unless I'm missing it, which is why I posed the question initially). Seems very odd to guarantee accuracy but not actually tell you what level of accuracy it is.

It would be like a car manufacturer offering an mpg guarantee without telling you what kind of mpg you are guaranteed to get. What's the point of a guarantee if it isn't quantified?

I have a LA 243 Winchester. I just assumed with all the 6.5's being such a long bullet, why would a LA be an issue for a CM?
