I am looking to buy an entry level auto target thrower. Do-All and Champion both have one in the $300-$400 range. Anyone have any personal knowledge of either of these--Do-All Raven or Champion Wheely Bird.

I'm curious about this as well. I'd rather be able to shoot skeet without needing anyone else to throw/release.

I tried the lower priced throwers, and had nothing but trouble. I had been using my boss Atlas thrower and it was great( higher priced) but worked ALL the time,and this thrower probably had already threw 20,000 clays. Anyway he needed it back and that's when I went with Champion, it is now sitting in the barn. I bought the AT 50 thrower and their small trailer, yes more expensive($1200.00 for both) but it works EVERY TIME when your ready to shoot. Sorry for the long post, but I have been down that road. Good luck with whatever you go with.

I have a Do All whitewing. got it about 5 yrs ago. I've had to replace the circuit board twice and its out again. It also breaks a lot of clays in the stack. Pretty disgusted with it. I bought it with the wobbler kit at Cabelas for around $700. Wasted money as far as I'm concerned. I now have a used Atlas 250 I gave $1100 for. Way better. Few broken clays and it throws every time.

poisonivie, did the same as I said, this year going to get the Atlas wobble kit. Aint rich, but its worth the price to have it work when you want to throw some or a bunch.

I was also looking for something like this. In addition, I was wondering if somewhere out there could there be a grant to pay for one or two. My sons are part of the FFA shooting team and we are in a very small rural area of oklahoma, the AG teacher says that there is not enough money in the budget to purchase couple of these. The only practice they get is on those manual throwers and they are pretty good, but when they get to the compitions with the automatic throwers they dont do very good because they are not use to how fast they are. They just cant compete with the bigger schools that have the auto throwers. I wonder if there might be a shooting range that maybe willing to donate or sale one of there old ones when they replace them with a new one. Do any of you have any thoughts on this or have been thru this and figured something out and can pass on some wisdom.

okjhutch you can have the one in my barn. I know it aint much, but I was in the FFA myself. Maybe your guys can fix it. Let me see how much the shipping would be and maybe we could split it or if it aint too much i'll just send it.

ok, appreciate that. where is granger, reason i ask is because my dad and best friend lives in the keller,tx area and it maybe cheaper to ship there and then i could pick it up from them when i see them next, do you have any idea what is wrong or what needs to be fixed? if it needs welding the FFA class has that covered, they build alot of hay rings, gates and trilers for some of there projects and for local residents, thanks

I have one of the Champion Wheely Bird. they were on sale at cabala's over a month ago for $299. I have only shot off this trap approx. 3 times so far and have had no problems it is fast. stand on the pedal and shoot a skeet every 2 seconds. Beats all my other buddies skeet throwers hands down. no problem with broken skeet. using the bio degradable skeet. Load 50 skeet @ a time . it is so well designed you do not have to stake it down just roll it where you want it and it will stay there.
the only mod , was I took a old set of jumper cables & cut off one end and attached them to the short pwr cable coming out of the skeet thrower.
best $300 home style skeet thrower I have ever shot skeet off of.

I got a Trius One-Step Thrower. I really like it. It's spring loaded. You step on the pedal, and it launches for you. You can work alone with it, and it will throw doubles. I got mine from Midway, but you can get them from many different places online. Not too expensive. Some guy did a youtube video describing this product here: https://youtu.be/76_o_Kt2glo

Just an update on my old post..Bought a Champion Wheelybird. Have used it three times, throwing 2 90 count boxes of clays each time. Over 500 throws. Had only 2 broken clays total. The thing throws really fast and further than I would normally shoot in the field. I split the provided power cord and put in regular electrical plugs in line so I can move it away from the truck with a regular extension cord. Battery clips still usable. Wired the plugs to the common and ground leads so if anyone accidentally plugs them into 110v the hot wire is not connected to the plugs on the thrower.
Only negative--the thing takes up a lot of floor space on the garage.
