I've got to admit that I've always been a little superstitious while hunting. I used to try and wear my old treebark hunting suit as much as possible. My friend Roy wore it when I first got it in 1987 because it was too big for me. I can still see him sitting about 600 yrds from me on a live oak tree branch across a valley in llano. At the time the suit was dark in color and he really stuck out while up in that tree. He died in 99 and I still have that hunting suit. The suit is faded in color and is very tight on me now. I never wear it anymore, but if I get in a buck slump in the future that suit is going to be squeezed onto my body. I also feel like I've got some good company with me while hunting even when nobody is around. I've got a picture of my great great grandma and some other family members hanging by my front door. I look at it before I leave the house. She was 100% Cherokee Indian. I feel lucky knowing Indian blood is in me. I wouldn't post your secrets if you feel it will jinx you. thanks

I get real bad about what cap I wear. It typically
Chnges from year to year but I have 1 cap that Has produced a kill everytime that I have worn it in the woods. This is including everyone in my group. I typicaly wear it 2-3 times a year. Other than that, Not too much

If I don't have a redbull on the morning hunt or a mug of sweet tea on the evening hunt then I might as well stay home because I'm not going to see anything.

My wife sleeping in is also my good luck charm. If she's not there on her stand and I am everything comes out of the woodworks. Makes me wonder what she's doing on the stand to deter their movement.

I see the biggest deer when I don't take my rifle or video camera grin

On a ranch I managed in South Texas for the evening hunts I would drive around till I found buzzards sitting on a blind then hunt that blind(25 blinds on the ranch). Was good luck it seemed when I did find them on a blind. When I was growing up I would listen for coyotes to howl and if they were close it was good luck for our morning hunts on our farm. They always seemed to be around the deer or close to them.

If you wake up just a few minutes before the alarm goes off it's going to be a good day.

I'm not that superstitious, but I have killed a couple of animals right after finding an arrow head. Thought that was pretty cool.

When my kids were younger and sat a few times with me, I'd always see more game than when alone. One of the girls seemed to be almost spooky lucky. My youngest killed a 13-point, hill country deer as her first buck.

The really big deer only come when you get out of the blind to use the bathroom

I rarely see deer due to the Leprechauns in my forest.

This guy hunted mule deer on our ranch 9 straight years. See if you can figure out his "good luck charm"?

Several years ago I made a little 1 1/2 mile hike into the deer woods. When made it to my destination I stopped by a pine to put my lucky hunting suit on. I didn't want to cook up a sweat on the walk in with the suit already on. I stood my .270 against the pine tree that was soon to be my back rest overlooking a very long pipeline right of way that was splitting two heavy wood lots. I was standing one leg trying to force my boot through the second pants leg with one hand on the tree. Something told me to look up and low and behold about 40 yrds a 150 class ten point is walking very fast across the pipeline. Me standing on one leg, with the other stuck in my hunting suit made it rather hard to grab my rifle and try to make a shot. I made some nasty sounds trying to get him to stop, but with his head down I knew his mind was on something else. That was the first clean typical ten point I had ever seen. At the time it was one of my goals to kill a ten point. I never saw that deer again. This may seem kind of unlucky, but the next year I killed three mature bucks and they were all ten point symmetrical, typical ten points. Now that's some luck.

Cool pics, man. Sometimes I skip the camo, too.

It is well known in our camp that grape soda is my mojo juice. You can bet that I usually try to remember to take a swig before heading out, morning or evening.

I have a certain jacket that I have harvested some good deer in and a particular cap that I like to wear backwards.

I have found that I almost always see more deer when I have a kid with me making all kinds of kid noises, I started to notice this when my oldest boys would go with me when they were like 5 years old.

They could never keep from talking or making noise, I figured that the deer where curious and wanted to see what was going on because after all they are only shot at by people trying to be stealthy and not make noise.LOL

When I started hunting, my uncle always had a group of Germans who hunted on his property every year. Said they talked the whole time and always got a deer. We figured the deer must have thought that someone making noise was no threat as the hunters would be trying to be quiet ... or the deer didn't speak German.

As to superstitions, I had the same shirt on for the first few animals I every killed ... pretty much darn freaked me out to hunt without it. When I did shoot something not wearing the shirt, I've tried very hard to switch it up since to avoid creating another lucky hat/shirt/jacket/etc.
