The best way to keep it from sticking is to sear it before cooking.

Turn the heat down, stir often.

Brunswick Stew with corn in it will stick from the corn, add it near the end of cooking to help against that.

Use a crockpot, helps as well.

Stock pots are good for their size but with the thin bottoms on them they stick bad where the heat is under then, lot of heat in a small area.
