Mobil One motor oil.
I had one Govt model that I ran with dry-moly only, never had any problems with it but eventually went back to using synthetic motor oil.
I've always heard this but, never tried it. I run all my guns pretty dry. Do you ever have an issue with dirt or dust gumming up the works? When I hog hunt I ride with my AR on the front of my 4 wheeler and it gets pretty dirty. First time I did it I had just cleaned the gun and had it pretty lubed up and it was like mud in my action.

FG, when you ride the slide slowly closed....is there a magazine in the gun? Just curious.
When I oil 1911s I do 3-4 drops of oil. 1 on each side where slide and frame contact. Then 1-2 for wiping all other moving parts.

No mag.
The fellas on the front page informed me it was the disconnector. I put a dab of oil on top of it and it helped. I just need to get some better oil or grease on top of the disconnector only, so it'll stay.

Do any of you actually use gun grease on your slides? I have started doing this on a new ss Sr1911. I do. I use Breakfree CLP and gun grease. LIGHT grease goes on the rails and rail grooves and on the bushing. Shooting a TRP. I use grease on my glock rails too. FWIW, grease on a 1911 style 22LR will often be to viscous for the pistol to operate reliable. Oil only is best with 22lr 1911s.

When I hog hunt I ride with my AR on the front of my 4 wheeler and it gets pretty dirty. First time I did it I had just cleaned the gun and had it pretty lubed up and it was like mud in my action. Only time I ever had this problem is when I used some lube and cleaner from a cheapo cleaning kit, i think it was a Ducks Unlimited giveaway. All the guns I cleaned and lubed with that kit gummed up nastier than hell, and caused all kinds of malfunctions. Once I figured out the problem, I stripped them all, cleaned them up nice, and lightly lubed everything with a quality oil. Since then, I have gone back to just using 3-1 oil. I don't have humidity issues in Arizona like I did in West Virginia.
