The Merwins were pretty unique in how you ejected the shells. The barrel roatated 90 degrees, and you pulled it way from the frame. Like most non-Colt and non-smith and wesson designs of the period, I think they had to come up with unique designs to avoid patent infringement, and most of them were over complicated and just plain silly IMHO.
