I was thinking Hopkins and Allen but they were in Connecticut Hopkins and Allen made these for Merwin and Hulbert.

The Merwins were pretty unique in how you ejected the shells. The barrel roatated 90 degrees, and you pulled it way from the frame. Like most non-Colt and non-smith and wesson designs of the period, I think they had to come up with unique designs to avoid patent infringement, and most of them were over complicated and just plain silly IMHO.
