scratch Have spent my fair share of time in the woods. Just head a scream like sound, 3 times. Have seen sevetal bobcats in wild, Recently took a short video of bobcat from this stand, its close to creek. Have never heard one, am thinking bobcat was making this sound, was behind & guessing 100yrds away. flag

Hey colt.45, I'm glad you brought that up. About 15 years ago I was hunting a very large non-typical whitetail during the rut. I was sitting on the ground on the side of a hill on the edge of a wood line. There was an old logging trail that veered off right at my back. A female bobcat (im guessing) walked about 10 feet in front of me. About 10 minutes later I heard a house cat coming at me meowing, but it wasn't a housecat. It was a big tom bobcat. He was meowing repeatedly like a house cat and he followed every step that she had made. About 10 minutes after this, another tomcat that was smaller walked about 10 feet behind me on the logging trail. He stopped and backed up to a goat weed plant and sprayed it. He was so close, I could hear the spray. So yes, I have heard a bobcat in the woods and they do make noise, but the scream, I'm not so sure about. I guess if you wanted to record a bobcat, just record a housecat. I'm not being funny, I'm being serious. This is the first and last time that ever happened to me. I could imagine that they do scream when they're fighting. I always wondered why those bobcats didn't acknowledge or smell me there. I came up with the conclusion that they were in a rutting situation and they were in such a trance (like a buck gets) that they didn't even care.

Could have been a porcupine. First time I heard one, thought it was a woman screaming. Dad told me what it was, thought he was yanking my chain. You can probably Google it, and see if thats what you heard.

Thank you...thank you very much

I just typed a big ol message and hit a key that erased the hole thing xxxx! I'll try again, wished these keys were lit up. No I never killed that non typical. He gave me a good look at him one time and he was so big I couldn't gather myself, worst buck fever ever. I tried to let him cross a creek to make a closer shot and he never did and disappeared. Hey, double drops, forks, kickers. and tines in between tines. I get depressed just thinking about it. Found a piece of his shed that March that the hay guy cut in half and bailed up. The brow tine was 9 inches long. I asked the piney woods biologist about big cats one time. He said that the only known cat that he had located was out towards Barnwell Mountain. He actually found the cats din. This was about eight years ago. There was some cats in a cage out by that elk ranch in wood county at one time. They were huge, wouldn't want that food bill. Those fuzzy ones are hard to show people. incode

About 30 yrs. ago in north west Louisiana I climbed into a tree stand before daylight. It was one of those moon less nights and really dark. About 10 minutes after I set down there was a terrible sounding scream right behind me. Sounded like a woman with a sore throat. I had goose bumps on top of goose bumps. I pointed my gun down the tree and took the safety off. Never did see what it was. It's something that i will remember forever. The only time I remember being scared in the woods.

cheers ta all for the input. Forgot bout google. One of me enjoyable hunts was a mid morning archery hunt. Have told it on here before. Few nights earlier had heard the sound eeech it was last few minutes of day light. Curious, made sound back. It got little closer. This went on for bout 20-30minutes. To dark ta see, so eased out. Mid morning few days later, heard it again, eeech, so did best ta mimmic. This went on for sevrral minnutes. Finaly an Owl landed in tree next to me. Rotated its head back, looked at me eeech. rofl Guess it didnt like what it was looking at. i gotta sneak up on the mirror in mornings. Any ways it was a short scream, never heard it before. First thing thought was a squash thinking its way threw the woods & stubbed it big foot. Will google sound of bobcat & porkupine. Yet ta see a non-typical on the live hoof. Awsome. Its why enjoy spending time wondering about the woods . Best wishes. flag

Haven't hear bobcats get very vocal but a fox will scream and make a very loud growling sound. We had one back in the 70's start screaming and growling coming into the call. They make a down right spooky noise.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

In 1995 my brother and I had a lease between Jefferson and Karnak, we were bow hunting and I got to my ladder stand at about 6:00am. I guess I'd been setting there about 15mins when I heard a similar scream, and like everyone on here every hair on my body stood up including the ones I was sitting on. About noon my brother came to pick me up and asked if I'd heard the scream. So since he was sitting on one side of the ridge and me the other it was between us so we went in search of any tracks and found them on the top of the ridge. They were the size of a plate and headed off into the swampy area, no claw marks so pretty sure it was a big cat. The next year I got my CHL so I could carry something besides a bow in them woods.
