Need a barrel pulled off a gun to send back to the maker--Anyone recommend a gunsmith in the Lewisville, Flower Mound, Highland Village/Grapevine area and all points in-between?

Would be awesome to be able to have it done while I wait, if possible.

S&S is on 407 right before you get to 35W, south side of 407. You have to kind of look but you will see the sign out front.

It's a bolt action rifle--pulling the barrel to send back to the barrel maker.

Larry Pockrus is the guys name in Ponder, used to own a shop in downtown L'ville & did 'smith work before that for Curtis Nix.

I haven't been in L'ville in years, but Nix's old shop location behind his house was sold, it shared a parking lot behind the bank - Curtis passed long time ago & the son, Bill Nix is now a SG Rep - but there used to be a Gun Shop with a 'smith in it south of Main on whatever the name of that Business Hwy was on the west side of the street too.

Doc's in Carrollton may be slow, but he's the best gunsmith I know of in DFW and is why he is so slow, 'cause he's covered up in business. Lst time I talked to Doc, he had a old retired guy with a seperate shop he reffered some stuff too, also for minor stuff he was too busy to get to...might ask about it, but that had to be 6-8+ years ago too.

There used to be another guy in Carrollton in the old strip Center at the South East corner of Josey & Belt Line...near the tire store and facing east that was doing a little 'smith work.
Good Luck
Ron

Is John Chambers still doing the gunbidnizz in the Grapevine area?. I knew him from his Walnut Hill Vlg days, before he sold out to Warren Jones & the shop became Jones Bro's. John was a pretty fair gunsmith.

I think so...gotta burr haircut in the Army and never got over it..hair turned gray in Korea before he was 25 carrying a "grease gun" that shot 45acp's and had to get up close and personal to be effective. Real soft spoken and laid back. Worked for AA Airlines for a real job doing cabin repairs during layovers, and wore black framed glasses. Moved the shop to G'Vine in '75 after DFW opened.

Larry in Ponder has done several small things for me while I waited. Good guy to talk with too. He did great work each time and was the cheapest gunsmith I found in the area.
