It's a website set up by a guide. It's a good site in that it can help guys hook up with guides that can help them check birds off the list.

It was a hit a couple years ago but appears to have dwindled. I never signed up
But know some that have.

To me it's more about the trip/experience than the list.

I've run through it with some guided hunts. , ran it through completely self guided and started this year taking it on with a 410.

Different strokes for different folks.

Brazos that's impressive. I would just hope to be able to run through it in my lifetime.

Only issue I see is that I've already taken a fair amount on the list, but they were years ago and there is no picture to go with them. Kind of sucks that I don't see where they can be claimed.

A quote from the article

"Again and again and again, I see my own death in the eyes of that jackrabbit, or duck or deer. And I am afraid. I know not what lies beyond, nor does the animal I stand over. All I know is that someday, the dying eyes will be mine, staring at a doctor, or a lover. Or the unblinking sky. It is a searing moment that feels like staring at the sun in a windstorm. It leaves me gasping."

Working as a Crime scene investigator, this paragraph jumped out at me. The writer is very insightful.

Wal, that is one of my all time favorite hunting articles. I think everyone should read it. Hank Shaw is the man! He is also a huge proponent for using everything you can out of the animals we harvest. Browse through his website it's very good.

I enjoy duck hunting...its the comradery, the dogs, the sunrise, being outdoors, the travels, the new places and all the people you meet along the way. I have never been real caught up on "trophy" birds, and I certainly don't care about a list. All I want to do is go out and shoot some birds with good friends and have a good time, after all I have nothing to prove.

waterfowl is different than deer hunting, its not about the biggest or baddest for me.. If someone wants to run through that list several times and let the whole internet world know, more power to em, buts its not for me.

but hey, to each their own

Attention rickym, this is not a troll post, just a good hearted fun type of post

So you pay someone to "register", you pay someone a certification fee for each of three grandfathered birds. And then pay them a fee to certify every waterfowl species you take of the 41 birds their list. Then be given titles rated on the number of certifications paid for and opportunity to print out a certificate with your title on it.

My opinion is if you want to kill as many examples of waterfowl species in the world, north america, or texas, whatever, just make your own list and do it.

That's why it never really gained traction. I can track my own list without paying someone else.

I got into checking birds off the list when I started doing my own taxidermy. After 25 years of hunting locally, it was time for something new.

Instead of a certificate an album with a hunt trip picture for each one would be much nicer to look at too. Every picture would tell a story from that hunt. After all it in the end is about the hunt, not the "list".
