When/why would a directional feeder be better than traditional?

Looking at investing in "stand and fill" feeders and have noticed a couple of companies also offer a "directional feeder" which is considerably more expensive. Just curious what situation would warrant the extra investment. It looks like the are $250-350 more than the traditional thrower feeder.

For a fish feeder on the side of a pond, is about all I can think of. Or if it is in a hog trap and you want it on the end and to throw in a certain spot.

To put in a smaller pen to throw feed across it. Maybe at the end of on old logging road for a shooting lane. Same as the fish feeders to get distance off the bank or dock does.

Thanks. The only reason I could think of was if you wanted to hide the feeder or position it in cover where it would not be as obvious.

I have used one and regret selling it. If you have senderos you hunt put the directional feeder on on side and angle it so it throws diagonally across the sendero. Works like a road feeder throwing corn. If u have hogs a pen can be built a lot smaller if even at all.
