Anyone ever use RWS brass? A few days ago I ordered 40 pieces for my 300WM for the lovely price of $82. Lapua brass for the 300WM is basically impossible to find and from what I've read, RWS is the next best thing. Does anyone have any personal experience with this brass? I hope it is worth the money..

Yeah, I checked into Nosler but read some reviews that weren't so good.

I'd be an unhappy camper if I got brass like the brass they talk about in this thread.

I have been finding a lot at the range. Most time it first time it's been fired! I always pick up belted cases at range, picked up about 20 300wsm last week! Always find 7mag and 300 wm.

Lots of people do not reload, and have no use for it other than they could sell it. Many that do not reload leave the brass where it falls.

Thankfully I have several family members who shoot 270 and 243 (what I go through the most) that don't reload or care to sell their empties, but they are happy to save them for me grin

kmon, that is definitely true. I work at a gun range here in College Station so I see lots of brass. Nobody ever seems to leave any RWS/Lapua/Nosler/Norma brass at our range, but I sure wish they would start!

The guys that shoot that brass usually reload so horde the brass just like the rest of us.

I pick up some brass but don't sell or hoard it. If I get enough or notice a lot of it I salvage it and offer it up for shipping...that's to guys here on forum. I have a bumper crop of 223 but maybe should pick up more and just leave it rough and store it in case there's a need. Most brass I salvage I give a short tumble in media when I get home then pass it along.

Lapua 300wm is impossible to find because they never made it. Lapua has never made belted magnum brass. They simply bought the brass from Norma with there headstamp on it. I think Nosler does the same thing.

RWS brass is good. It's just really thick and has much less case capacity than your Winchester (has the most capacity), and Norma/Nosler brass. I think some people need to load more ammo and shoot more instead of post.

Lapua did manufacture 300 Win Mag brass. It was many years ago. It had the traditional Lapua annealing ring at the neck. I used to order it all the time. The Nosler brass is made by Norma. And the weight of the Lapua cases are not the same as the Norma/Nosler stuff.

I pulled this quote from this link:
http://precisionrifleblog.com/2013/05/31/lapua-brass-for-7mm-rem-mag/

From Kevin Thomas Lapua USA.

Actually, I donít believe that Lapua has ever made 7mm Remington Magnum brass. There was a time when we offered 300 Win Mag brass, but this was also something that we didnít manufacture; it was produced under contract for us by Norma. I think this may well have been the same situation for the 7mm Mag brass youíve encountered. Iíll have to check with the Finns to make certain of this, but Iím fairly confident that this is what youíve run on to here. Theyíve generally had a fairly strong aversion to producing belted cases, and this is what makes me suspect that this is the case.

We have a 7mm Naturalis hunting bullet, but aside form that, the 7mm bore size seems to be a weak spot in our line. No surprise that the 6.5s hold more sway in that region of the world, but we keep trying to get them to broaden the 7mm offerings. In the meantime, whether the brass was produced by us or Norma, it should be good quality stuff either way. Enjoy!
