I've got a Kel Tec 380 that's been great. Is it the easiest to shoot? No, but I can hide it anywhere. None of the light duty guns are "easy" to shoot. If you have to pull the trigger in less than a second and the bad guy is more than a few feet away, I doubt you'd hit him with any of these ultra-concealable pistols. At point blank, you can hit them with any of them. So I like the one that's most concealable. The difference in ergonomics while shooting isn't large enough to justify the far worse ergonomics for carrying.

I agree with Patriot07,I too have a KelTec P3AT and it is a great little concealed carry gun. Fits in the pocket of anything I wear, no muss, no fuss. It IS a ***** to shoot straight, and in my opinion is a perfect carry gun. Because I know I only will pull it out if I absolutely have to! It's loud, kicks hard and not terribly accurate. On the other hand I have loaned this to a buddy and went back to carrying my S&W .40 in a shoulder rig. Figured if I was going to carry all the time, I should have a gun I can reliably hit a barn with at 10 paces.

I just shot a friends Kel-Tec .380. It is a basic gun, that is easy to use. IMO, for a pocket pistol, only one thing matters, and that is that it works. That is why they are called "Belly Guns." There is no need to worry about the grip, sights, trigger pull, etc. You will be shooting very close, and it will be over very fast. Then you will either be alive, dead, or wounded. Save the fancy gun talk for shooting at targets.

Did he warn the buyer about the problem? I was kid when the whole thing happened, but I am pretty sure it was one of his buddies that was there at the range when it went off that bought it.

Anothe vote on the KelTec P3AT. It is not a good a gun to take to the range for some fun plinking but it is concealable and fits my purposes.

I have owned many small pistols, this is the finest. Concealable, reliable, shootable. Expensive but worth it.
God is so good to me.

I have now looked at a ton of itty bitty pistols. Gotta admit I'm now even more confused. The LCP was pretty darn good. The Beretta Pico looked like a winner, but the slide release is terrible.
The benefit from all this is that the wife can now work the slide on the Beretta PX4, so she feels comfortable with it now. That means the little pistol will be mostly for me. That changes the equation just a bit, which doesn't mean that I'm any less confused.
I'll tell ya though, all the pistols I looked at and handled really gave me a good feeling about the PX4 I bought a couple of years ago (full sized, type F). I bought the right pistol. The double action decocker (Type F) is perfect for me.

i've tried many compacts
The one that I like is
Ruger LC9S - 9mm; about $350 (price/form)
if you just want something to go bang when you're in dire situation then a NAA WASP in .22 Mag can be concealed just about anywhere
