I had a Popeyes shrimp po-boy for lunch today. It was good but not great. Where can you get great ones for lunch.

The best Po boys I ever ate came from Nolan's Restaurants in Kingsville, and Corpus Christi way back when (like 30 and 40 and more years ago). They were ham and cheese stacked high and served piping hot, oozing out of a large toasted sesame-seeded bun that was always swimming in butter. A heart attack on a plate! Best sandwich around, hands down. As I remember, they were served with a large slice of pickle on the side.

I've gone back to Nolan's many times, and been told, "Yes, they are exactly the same as they use to be."

I say,as does my wife, and others who remember..."NOT SO."

Canyon Creek on Westcott in Houston. Used to walk there from the house to eat a shrimp po boy and have a few brews.

Alby's seafood in Rockport.

It stinks inside there, but man their shrimp po-boys are amazing, fresh, filling, and priced right. I need a road trip...

Calliopes on west bellfort and fondren. I used to work that area and their poboys are really good. Probably as close to New Orleans poboy as you will find in Houston. Roast beef poboy and a side of gravy fries with cheese.

Heck of a drive but I have before. Olde Tyme Grocery in Lafayette, LA
I'll give that one from Aw Shucks or Razzoo's a try. They look pretty good.

I passed a lot of time there back in the 70's. Po-boys were wonderful and the beer was cold. A great combination!
