For the 338, I prefer something in the range of 5-22 power. A low power scope will hold you back from reaching the full potential of the rifle. I prefer Nightforce. glass is very clear, larger diameter allows more light in to reach the eye. In a mil reticle, the Nightforce will allow you to adjust on the fly for quicker shot adjustment.

Of that list Razor HD then the NF. And consider the SS 5-20 X

Skip the Viper PST all together for the 338. The 338 is for excess of a thousand yards and the PST is 5 Mils per rev. To reach what the 338 can reach you need lots of travel. I pushed my 7 Rem Mag with Viper PST to a mile. I dialed about 20 Mils in and had to hold three more. If I were building a 338 it would get a 30 MOA base and the Razor, or my SS 5-20 HD.

Three weeks ago some friends called me needed help ranging with the reticle. They were in west Texas and had steel set so far out the range finder wouldn't read. I calculated 1461 yards. They shot a 7 Rem Mag and 338 LM that far and moved out to a mile and called me back. They both reported better clarity with the SS than the Gen 1 Razor.

Unless it is a Gen 2 or a Gen 1 that has been upgraded
