Fellas, I'm leaning towards the 280ai. Does everything I'll ever ask of it, and doesn't bark to bad.

Thoughts?

No flies on it at all, but being a non-handloader you're faced with finding factory ammo for it (someone mentioned Nosler as a source, there may be a few others) OR shooting regular .280 Remington ammo in it (which you can do, no problem) and foregoing the performance potential of the AI.

I believe Nosler makes some 140 and 160 grain pills (both Accubond). Now I just have to decide how heavy to go.

If you can afford all the things mentioned in your posts, then just go 280AI and take it to Chad. For 300-400$ he'll build you a round and then you can get all the ammo you ever need from him.

Do it!

160 gr. or heavier bullets, and let er rip.

FiremanJG,
I am seriously considering it. Will probably go with it for my 28...now my 30 cal will probably be a hot rod "do-it-all" magnum. I'm only currently stocking the safe with custom rigs (life's too shot to not have have them)

I hope that isn't a slight comment on me. But, yes I can afford nice toys. I'm a single guy. It's just me and the dog, and "Annie" doesn't care what I spend my money on as long as she has her groceries. I try to buy one new custom a year. It's easily doable, and keeps me out the bars chasing wild women - I miss them, but I like my custom rifles more.
