So finally, there was the skunk. Been looking for him for a month. He was roughly downwind, so no problem. I shot him (head shot) and the wind changed. Now the wife is on my case. Who knew the wind would change....?

Peeeeeyew...fired up the tractor and scooped him up and took him off a half mile or so. My eyes are watering. That's intense.

Imagine having to get close enough to remove one from a trap! Yes, BY HAND.

Couple of years ago I was catching a few in my Dog Proof traps. I had one pair of gloves I wore to remove them , as not to taint any of the others, I used to keep them in the back of the truck. When I took the kids to school, they had other children at the curb to assist with unloading and a pleasant greeting. They used to hold their noses and faces would wrinkle up when we pulled up. My girls and I thought is was funny and would just laugh.
That smell gets in your nose and takes a couple of days to go away.

When ever we'd come across one laying in the road, we put on Ed Burleson..Dead Skunk song.

I would have been driving backwards to keep the smell as far away as possible.

Heck why didn't you just dig a hole and cover him up?

After the wind changed, the wind died. The vast cloud of skunk stink just sat on the house and surrounding yard. Bad. Very bad. The last time this happened (yes, there was a first time) I went out and picked the skunk up by the tail and carried him off. Not doing that again, so decided to use the tractor, since I absolutely had to relocate the skunk. Burying him didn't seem like a great idea. In retrospect, maybe shooting the skunk was the first of my bad ideas, but the wife worries about rabid skunks. We've had 3 in the yard in the last few years.

My truck and wife's car smell like skunk inside. Yard still stinks. I can't even imagine how breadman got sprayed twice and managed to deal with it.
