Any recommendations? I'll be in town the next few days on business. I've called Nagels and Drury's looking for a specific pistol. Nagels did not have it, Drury's did, but price was about $200 too high. I'm going by there anyway. You never know, maybe they will come down a little. Thanks in advance!

Nagels has always been like that and Dury's is right around the corner from me and they've always been way over board on their prices. I wouldn't expect mercy trying to haggle with them. There is a really nice shop and facility on the south side south of loop 410 south about two miles on Pleasanton rd. called "A Place to Shoot" it's a rifle and pistol range and it has a complete gun shop, not your typical gun range shop where they only sell ammo and do bore sighting, this is a real gun shop with friendly knowledgeable staff. Give it a try! I know the guy who owns it and he is top notch! http://aplacetoshoot.com/

nagels looks like a flea market, cant even move about the place, cant get service and when you do your just bothering them. i try to avoid that place. durys offers lifetime warranty on whatever gun you purchase there. a friendlier place to shop, a place to shoot is good too, not a big selection like durys though.

I would also recommend "a place to shoot".
I wouldn't walk through the door of nagels to pick up the winning loto jackpot.

Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

My gunsmith in Fair Oaks had a lot of Sig Sauer inventory for sale, if it's a Sig you're looking for. Gunwurkz He's a real nice guy, Vietnam Vet and works out behind his house. It would be on your way in or out. Flea market is the perfect description for Nagel's. I only go there if I have to (part, FIL drags me, etc). Some of the help is decent, but I went in there as a young man, many years ago and asked a clerk about a certain caliber. He threw a brochure across the counter and told me to "read about it". I've bought about 35 to 40 guns since then; not a single one from Nagel's. Drury's is better, but crowded and high. Good thing about my guy in Fair Oaks is you don't have what I call "lounge lizards" hanging around. The unemployed guys that eaves drop on what you need or are asking about and tell you "what you oughta do".

A Place to Shoot is great. Selection is limited but they know their stuff and are quite reasonable.
I like Drurys even with the high end pricing due to service and warranty. Gets a little crowded but still a good place.
You will never find me in Nagles. I can be treated poorly anywhere.

Go to the Powderhorn off 410 by marbach. Great guys, great attitude, great prices and they are more than fair on trades or selling to them. After 25 years and trying other shops, they are the only ones I will go to now. Durys left a bad taste in my mouth the last two times I went there.
Nagels the same way.
Oh I drive 2 hours just to go do business with them because my local gun stores do absolutely nothing better.

Thanks for the help! I ended up at Nagels, Dury's, & Bass Pro. None of which had the gun I was looking for. I ended up purchasing one at Wheeler's in Boerne. Bass Pro recommended them to me. Nice selection. I was looking for a compact 9mm 1911. Really had the colt defender or sig 938 in mind. I ended up buying a Springfield EMP. Thanks again! Next time I'm in town I'll hit the other places!
