Started getting crippled in his front legs about a month ago. Got worse and could not get up without help. No use letting him suffer.

Were there any wounds?

Are their minerals available to them?

No external wounds. Must have all been internal. And yes. There are minerals in the feed and purina goat mineral free choice. Not a mineral or hoof problem. Something started happening about a month ago and has gotten worse. Buzzards are getting some expensive meat today.

To me it looked like his front legs would not do what his brain told them to. Yes he was healthy except for his mobility. How long do you think his horns were? He was going on 2 years old.

Ibex are not bad about blind siding. They just rear up and knock the hell out of each others head and horns. Never seen the Mouflon mess with the Ibex.

Seen things happen around hay or feed or a female in heat that you would not think would happen. He could have had a brain injury also from fighting with another Ibex. Did you cut his horns off?

Sorry about your loss, those animals aren't cheap! Hey I did have a question for you ibex people. When we were hunting in the Floridas in November, a buddy of mine was guiding a guy and when his hunter shot one, they took its testicles on dry ice to a breeder in Amarillo imediately to try and get those genetics. I didnt even know this was possible, ever heard of that?

I just hope they used those genetics on pure Persians(or close to it) and not going TT and using it on Angoras/Farm Goats.

I bet you were really hoping they would cross it with a Corsican.

No, did not cut off horns. I will let the varmits and buzzards do their thing and then get them. The males were by themselves. no females with them. You never know one of them may have blind sided him in the neck or shoulder. But it was different in that the longer his problem lasted the worse it got. I had removed him from the rest a couple of weeks ago to see if that helped. But he got worse each day. Just one of those things you never figure out. Another reason everybody is not raising Ibex.
