Plenty of reviews online, but it's not available until July.

With only 26" and 28" bbls offered it doesn't look like they're going after the target crowd....kind of hard to understand that.

They will probably add 30" and 32" in a year or two. The gun is only 6.5 lbs, way too light for a competition gun. Maybe they can make a target shotgun by changing to a steel receiver.

Most of benelli models are hunting guns. They are not that big in the sporting clays game. 828U the U stands for upland.

Understand that, bentman, but that just opens up more questions....if upland, why not 20 and 28? Why only 12? It seems like Benelli has gone for a 'middle of the road' market to test the waters and, like 5 Sand Dan suggested, will come out with more, (could be either target models or other upland models, maybe both), once they have some success.

It just seems like they've limited their market. $2000+ for a 'non target', upland gun in 12 gauge? If for upland it would be much more useful in 20 ga. w/ 3" chambers.

No...they make the 20 in several other models, (M2, Cordoba, Super Sport, Ultralight) and the 28 in the Legacy and Ultralight.
Those, of course being semi autos. Not here to argue, just feel like the the gun doesn't fit the intended audience, 'Upland', as well as it could.

I happily shoot a 12 for any bird hunting I do. I size fits all, in my thinking.

Not that there is not a place for other gauges.

+1. I don't know why you would introduce a new upland gun in anything but a 12. There's surely a market for a 20 or 28, but it's smart to test the waters with a new gun in a 12 since that's what the vast majority of upland hunters want.
