I have probably asked this before but from those who have hunted there, what's it like?

how challenging, etc?

I went last year with a good friend as he hunted for a Black Hawaiian ram. I was able to do a little free range axis while there. I can not speak to well on how challenging as I was not in the blind with Eijiro for his hunt. I do know, Garret will not allow hunting off feeders. Eijiro managed to take a beautiful ram and we both got axis does. I do know tat of the 5 rams tat he has taken, in Texas, California and Oregon he enjoyed that hunt the most.

I would add that from the moment you arrive until you pull out the driveway you are treated like family. I would recommend Von Netzer 100% 365 days a year! Good luck

Garret is a great guy.....have not hunted there but have spoken to him and some of his references. Note that his Mouflon hunts are booked well in advance..so do not expect to just call and go on a Mouflon hunt.

I have never hunted there but have never heard anything that would cause me not to. Talked to him a few years ago about buying a few of his Mouflon. Seemed to be a very reasonable gentleman.

Oh he's a very nice guy I can tell you that just by talking to him

My question is mainly how challenging is the hunt?

I look at his website quite often and they seem to shoot alot of other types of sheep besides mouflon which means he has the pastures seperated

What I'm wanting to know is this a pull into a 75-150 acre pasture pick on out and shoot it type deal?

I am booked for November 2015 already shot. 38 1/4 Corsican last year and a big Hawaiian last year. I love the place and the hospitality they are great people. He doesn't Like hunting over feeders so that's a challenge. He has awesome animals and some of the best genetics you will see. My ram was over 38 and just shy of three

I would just call and ask. I am sure Garret will tell it like it is. I know he likes to still hunt and as mentioned in other posts, they do not hunt the feeders....they try and make it as close to a real hunt as possible.

Don,

When I spoke to Garret about a year ago he had no opening on Mouflons...booked about 2 years in advance, but here are my notes on the other sheep...I was looking for a good short hair coat: The costs included the lodging & meals

1. Best time to hunt to ensure good coats would be after mid April

2. Corsican/Texas Dall 3 nights & two days of hunting base cost $1250 for a ram up to 29 7/8", additional $100 per inch for 30" up to 34 7/8" and an additional $200 each inch above 35."

3. Black Hawaiian 3 nights & two days of hunting base cost $1350 for a ram up to 29 7/8", additional $100 per inch for 30" up to 34 7/8" and an additional $200 each inch above 35."

4. Limited number of rams over 35" but there are some pushing 37" or better

5. $250 Deposit per hunter to hold a reservation
