I have been looking at bullets to reload for my 6.5 Creedmoor. I love Berger hunters for my .243 and love the performance.

For the 6.5 I have looked into Hornady SST and Amax because they are much cheaper. I have seen some good stories on here with the Amax's, has anyone hunted with the SST's? I am a little hesitant to hunt with the Amax bullet because Hornady does not recommend it.

Rifle is still being put together, just getting reload supplies ready.

I've killed a bunch with the Amax. Never messed with the SST.

Haven't shot the SST bullets in years. Performance on game I like the A-Max better than the Berger VLD so far in the 6.5-284. But then I also like the Accubonds in it. But they are more expensive.

I shoot 129 SSTs in my 6.5 Swede. The are very accurate and perform quite well. I've never had a pig or deer run. DRT!

140 because you can probably go buy a box of it and not have to reload for 26 a box.

140 A-max, even with the lands (if it'll still fit in the mag) atop +/- 42.0 gr H-4340

Or a 140 Berger hunting. The Berger may need some attention tweaking seating depth.

140 A-max! I've had lots of customers take all the Texas critters, and even an elk.

I shoot the SST's out of multiple 243's and they're killers. I'd rock those (or an Amax) out of the 6.5CM in a heartbeat.

Wow an Elk??? That is awesome, did not know the Amax was capable of knocking down an elk.

Cup and core bullets took and still take all kinds of game. There are better bullets for the big critters these days though.

In a 260, I used the 120 Barnes TTSX this season, which worked fine.

Right now, testing with the 100 gr. TTSX looks like it will be the choice for next season as it delivers +250 fps or more velocity out of a 22" barrel, which higher velocity is better for the Barnes.

Very pleasant on the shoulder.
