My great great grandfather started building a tiny home out of timber harvested from this property in Houston Co. in 1836. Luckily it was able to be kept in the family over the years, and this past December, after being vacant for 10+ years due to the untimely death of my cousin who lived there, was passed down to us by my Aunt.
My cousin was intent on saving it, and making it liveable, which he did in the late 90's, adding on several rooms, baths etc, all built around the original structure.
Being vacant for 10 years has taken it's toll on it, leaks in roof, rats, ransacked by theives etc. but the restoration has begun. Can't wait to spend the first night there with my family.
The original house started to the left of the window, was roughly 20x20 with a loft area.
