anyone got a bare stiller tac30 action laying around they can weigh for me? I am trying to break down the weight on my rifle to see where I can drop some weight on the next build?
Thanks

Thinking a more refined match rifle. I weighed mine and it opened my mind some. Now it weighs 15 lbs give or take. I am thinking
Gap temptest action manners elite stock with net me one less lb and a varmint or palma contour barrel should net me 2 lbs less or so.
Trying to be around 11-12 lb weight and I think it is do able.
But this won't happen tomorrow or next week. It will take me a bit to make it happen.

15 lbs, is that the 243 with the break on it? If it is no wonder you can spot your own shots.
We are going for 6.5lbs for the rifle sans scope on the build I have going now, different plans for the rifle though than yours.

Walter They look really nice. Have they ever said who is making them? I haven't been on the Hide since they moved so have on seen it a little bit.

Yessir that is the one. and yeah I can spot hits at 200 easily. No recoil is an understatement. But I am thinking 12 lbs will be magical. Still a break to reduce recoil and enough weight to help with recoil. Walter

Yeah, I know, I know. But the one in the video I had to adjust my glasses. They really suck with my ear muffs and won't stay in place. So when I was prone half my scope was covered by the frame. Some in the ear electronic plugs are in order.

I am about to build a custom 6.5 and want to keeo it as light as I can get away with as well.
I love the Defiance Deviant action.. So butter smooth and a work of art. I am going with an elite carbon fiber Manners as well and a 23" Rem Varmint profile.. About the same as a med palma.
Which model stock are you looking at?
Mini chassis as well?

I have a t2a now and love it so will either go with that or t6a. Have already talked to tom and will probably get him to send me a t6a demo stock to check against mine now. Not sure on the mini chassis I like the idea and everything about it but like that my stiller or the surgeon has a mag well to push against instead of pushing on the mag, so I am not sure there yet.

If you're shopping weight nixing the mini chassis is a good place to loose some. I'd also look at the Pierce Titanium action...you can shave 10oz there. Pierce makes a dang good action too.
Just a thought...fyi...I like my t6a but again if weight is the goal nix the adj cheek and go stock pack. I wish there was a skeleton like stock that would be super light weight...just not out there. The Erblestock (not spelled right) makes a cool looking stock from aluminum but it's not light enough to make me abandon the Manners.

What about the XLR carbon? I'm not sure if it would save any.

Not so much as trying to save a ton but at 15 lbs right now I would like to drop some. One thing I don't want to give up is the adjustable stock. If I go with the elite fill I will lost at least a lb. also if I go with a light varmint or Palma contour I will drop about two. Which will put me around 12. That is my goal. I still like a little heavier of a rifle to help reduce recoil but 15 is pushing it. I am also going to go with a more efficient 6mm like the creed so I can still be around 3k fps but do it with a 23 in barrel instead of a 26 which will also save some weight. Thanks for all the input. Walter

Just something else to think about. A 6slr uses your 243 brass (assuming your using Win) just run through the sizer and load, no fire forming.
It gives up nothing to the 6 Creedmoor.
If your using something besides Win brass it might require neck turning.

He's using Lapua so I'm sure turning would be required. The SLR uses more powder (not much) and doesn't seem to be as efficient in a short barrel.

You're right via everything I've read. I'm using Win for that reason. Not sure about the short barrel mines 22" and I'm running 3015-3020. The guy I bought it from said hybrid 100v was as accurate and faster. I've not seen the Creedmoor doing much better.
