Can hydro dipping be removed from a synthetic stock (without damaging the stock)? The stock has rubber grip inserts too so I would need to protect those.

Contact a company that hydros and ask them. There is bound to be something that will get it off.

I believe the process is to paint an undercoat color, hydrodip, and then clear coat. So I imagine something to remove the paint would be needed. However, I think anything that would remove paint would affect the synthetic stock in the end.

More than likely the stocks were sand blasted prior to the base coat being applied. Your probably going to have to re coat the stocks with something.
