Kountry, I've heard good things about Archer county. Like other Cross Timber region counties, the game management of your neighbors will dictate a great deal on the quality of your herd. Have heard that quite a bit of agriculture in that county helps the body sizes of the deer out there.

I hunted nw of archer city for some time. The ranch produced some great deer that went in the 150-160's. We managed heavily. Unless you are near the lake or rivers deer density isn't real high. The deer are big and there are monsters there.

I worked that area a few years back in oil field sales and there were some big deer in the south east part of Archer county.

South east part of the county is good for deer hunting.

Hunted that area for a couple years and it was hit and miss. Part of the reason we left was the place being hunted by others during the week when we weren't there. We know the lease broker was double dipping. Our place had been overhunted and we figured out why real quick. Area does have potential though if managed right.

Do you know the name of the ranch or who you're leasing from?

That's the best kind of deal. Area can be really good in spots and has a good variety of game too. Good luck with it!
