Does anyone have any information on duck plucking parts? After making gumbo out of the redheads I shot at the coast the other day I have decided to stop breasting out my ducks. There is simply way too much waste involved. I figure with the heart, gizzard and thighs I am throwing away about 50% of really good edible meat. Somehow that just aint sitting too good on me any longer. So the birds I killed towards the end of this season I plucked. Old school get to pulling feathers. It wasn't as bad as I remember it. Well we don't have a picking house up at the lease so my bro and I are going to put together one of them plucker thingies. All we need is the wheel with the rubber fingers on it. I bet you could attach it to a side shaft Honda motor and it would run like a spotted ape.

I looked at this one. I can build that out of all thread, washers, a radiator hose and whatever (Grainger catalog) for the fingers.

I can buy an old wood lathe for $100 with a big arse motor. It would be easy to make Navasots plucker and mount it on the lathe. Thank you Nav!!

Yessir it sure is. It is a dern shame that season is over. Trolling each other just isn't the same as trolling a bunch of internet game wardens and new boots.

The easy pluck is he one I have Wal. It works good but I think you could make it great if you rigged it up with something other than a drill.

Get an old broken trolling motor prop, cut the fins off but leave enough to screw fingers in, attach rubber fingers to what's left. Put it on five in continuous mode off the side of the boat and have at it. When you're done put your good prop back on.

If you get this to work, let me know and I'll try it!
