So I took out a new rifle yesterday and shot some Berger 185's that I loaded in preparation of getting the rifle to just see if it might shoot them well. Near SAMI specs, which ended up being .029 off the lands, 3/8 of the groups were Sub-MOA with the best being .62, but that one was 2 grains of powder below max book charge. The max book charge also shot sub-moa and I want to work with the seating depth on that charge. I'm thinking about loading a few groups starting at .025, .020, .015, and .010, to see if the bergers like any of those jumps to the lands. I'd rather not get them completely in the lands as they barely fit in the magazine when loaded that deep. What do you guys think of this plan and should I load 3 or 5 shot groups? I've never messed with seating depth so I'm not familiar with if 3 per group is enough to see an obvious difference. Also, should I shoot these groups at further than 100 yds? Thanks.
