With apologies to TexasDan, here's a few random preguntas in my head... Do you have a favorite paper target to use at the rifle range after burning your freebie? Remington 700 factory synthetic stock.. How tight do you torque your action screws? (Not bedded yet..) Tikka T3 Varmint.. Just got an EGW rail.. When leveling the scope, should I level it w/ the rail or is there a better (more true) spot to use? It's not digital, but for the $$ is this trigger gage ok? http://www.midwayusa.com/product/192807/wheeler-engineering-trigger-pull-gageAs far chrono's go, your favorite?
I really hate to do what I am about to do, because it will be very painful for you.

White paper, and a black sharpie to draw what ever you like.
65 in/lbs
Leven on the scope base, then make the reticle of the scope parralell to a known horizontal or vertical line. I use a 1/2" rope with 20 pounds hanging 50 yards away, at home. On the range this week, I've been using the water in the stock tank. Both are guaranteed to be level.
I use a Shooting Chrony as a guide. Then shoot the distances and write down what happened. Then work the MV backwards in the calculator and see what it comes up with for a trajecotry calculation. Tweak as needed, until they match.

I make my own targets, they are 4moa (don't freak JG, I like moa) and they are diamond shaped with a vertical and horizontal crosshairs. Past 200 yards I can't see the cross hairs, but I can line the corners up with the hash marks in the scope. I actually level the target when placing it on the stand, that way I know my rifle is level, it's my OCD. (I think this only works for FFP scopes).
Torque to 65ft/lbs
Level off the rail. Then do what JG said, I hang a rope with weight form my oak tree out front, then leave the front door open and level the scope.
I don't use s crony, I'm just not that good and don't reload.
No trigger pull gauge.

On the Remington....some models came w/ plastic trigger guards, (mine did), you can torque right through it behind the trigger.

I like one with the tip of the diamond exactly 3" high (usually the "freebie") simply because I sight in most of my rifles 3" high at 100 yards.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.
