Got to get out and hunt a little Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

Here is one of Bleu, Daisy, Jake and Jazz

Here is Ace, Bleu & Daisy

This is a good one of Ace, he was locked up on this single (actually there was another bird that flushed after this one about 10 feet away) and as I walk up taking pictures, I notice the bird on the ground in front of him. You can see it in this first picture but you might have to scroll down to the second one to see it good, in the first pic it's at the bottom almost dead center. I tried to catch it with my hand but it just barely got away, I did touch it though.

You can see her a little better here.

One last hunting picture then I will put the pics I have for Oxner in a reply, so I dont get too many in one post.

For Bill

Thank goodness we had all that wood to help get out or this would have taken a few hours.

Cooking some burgers at the Motel. 100% Angus beef with Colby Jack cheese, Sauteed onions, tomato and fresh Avocado. Did the Crinkle cut fries in the oven and the Ranch style beans in the Microwave. Good eating right there.

Big bad John. "With jacks and hammers they started back down."

You need to get a wench.

A winch wouldn't have done any good, nothing to hook it to. We will eventually get one put on I'm sure, but it wouldn't have done any good that day. If we didn't have that jack we would have had to make a rescue call to our buddy. That stuff was bottomless. I carry that jack and two pieces of flat plate aluminum so the jack dont sink as I use it. Not much I cant get out of with those and the shovel.

I have an auger to screw into the ground for the wench. The wench is broke, but I hunt mostly out of my friend's Ranger now. We haven't gotten it stuck but have been close.

Yeah, my Dad used to carry a 4" piece of aluminum angle (about 5-6' long) in his jeep just for that. But I still don't think that would have worked either. The shovel would go to the handle with one easy push. That show on history channel where they are four wheelin across alaska I think, those guy's have a neat contraption called a land anchor, I may bust out the welder and make a smaller version of it for the mule when we do get a winch.

A screw-in mobile home anchor would definitely do it for an anchor point with a winch, and be cheap and easy. You could also bury something like a spare tire up in front of you with the winch attached. I've been stuck more times than I usually like to admit...sometimes the winch saves time, but sometimes it doesn't.

We tried a salt water boat anchor one time. It didn't work. It would twist to the side.

That looks pretty neat if it collapses down flat. I guess you just poke the tip in the ground, then stand on the back and hold on?

I got stuck in south central ok a few years ago. Taking a short cut across a field in a diesel truck. Hit one spot and it went to the axles. Took a tractor and $250 to get us unstuck. I had two guys with me and they just put their hands in their pockets and looked away when it was time to pay.
