2014 was the first year for my 2 boys and I to have a deer lease, in OK, land of the short season. We did have some ups and downs, overall it was a good experience to learn from though. The learning would have been more on the upside if this guy had come around sooner. We picked up all of our stuff on Saturday and had one last camera out running. Can someone tell me something about him? There are some 6-8" brow tines you can't see. Nice 10'er. Charlie

Lot of chest and body, could be a rutted-down 4.5. Hope he shows up next year, or are you saying you're off the lease now? Doesn't look to me like that 10th pt is legal.

Moving to a new place for the 2015 season and I am trying to figure a way around feeder pen. I noticed that you don't have an actual pen but have your feeder secured with t-post. Do you have cattle on your place?

We're not staying at this place. Too far, too expensive, too small are the top 3 reasons. The 3 week OK Rifle season is also a big reason. Tons of Doe and little bucks during the season.
We didn't have cattle, only the occasional swarm of goats if they got out. The T-Post anchors were to counter the hogs. When we first put it out, they figured out they could bump it and knock out corn. Went to go fill one time, the feeder was empty and suspended by the T-Posts. The add-in leg sections had fall off, pretty interesting sight to see. Eliminator Plate took care of that, though they still tried bumping and rubbing, you can see it's a little off center.

Charlie, set your t-posts at the same angle as the legs on the feeder, instead of vertically. Much stronger that way and you won't lose a feeder. Not to say the hogs still won't bump the legs to drop corn, but if you are not fencing at least you will save a feeder from being toppled over.

I have been settting feeders just like that for 20 plus years and NOTHING will take one down ....I even found one still standing on 2 legs full of corn one time rusted off at the barrel ...... currently have 2 set up like that with hogs cattle deer and the works after them year round they been standing for 6 years just like that and I think that buck is no more than 4.5 ....could be a year younger as well

If I send my neighbors a text and ask them to give me feedback on my lawn and plant rye into a giant dong pattern, I'm probably going to get some less than positive feedback. Same goes here.

All the deer there seemed to be really young, not an aging expert, but he's easily the oldest looking specimen I had a picture of or saw.
Someone else will get the chance next year... we're not renewing the lease. Too far (4 hours), too small (40-50 acres), too short of a rifle season in OK and way too expensive now that I've learned a little bit.
Thanks for all the input.

There is also the rifle season for does during the holidays too. Add in the muzzle loader season and you got lots of days to hunt with powder.
