Was in Cabelas in Allen at 3:30. They had Varget for $29.95/lb. I bought some and fellow behind me must have got the rest. I came back about 5 minutes later it was all gone.

Cabela's also had Hodgdon H4350, same price and I bought some of it. Still had it on the shelf when I left.

What's the difference between IMR 4350 and AA 4350? I have both and am curious about the science behind the necessity to check data for each brand.

They may have the same numbers, they ARE NOT THE SAME.
H4350, IMR4350 and AA4350 are all different compounds, close to the same burn rate, but not the same.

I seriously doubt all three are the same powder - ADI in Australia makes Hodgdon's extruded powders, IMR's plant is in Canada, and the last time I checked, AA's extruded powders were made in China.

I did not see any, and I looked for Unique and Bullseye. No idea what it is selling for at this time.

I know that....

That's why I was asking what makes them different.

I seriously doubt that anyone other than the manufacturers can explain the technical difference in the chemistry of the powders. And even if they would do so, how many of us have the chemistry expertise to understand.

All we know, and all we need to know, is that they are not the same burning rate,, and therefore are not interchangeable.

Figured it was worth a shot though. I'm always interested in the "why".
