My hunting partner passed away last March. When it first happened, I was devastated, thought I'd not be able to hunt.. she was my partner every time we went to our lease and she loved hunting. Duck season was particularly hard... good thing it sucked most of the time and we didn't need her (i think that's the weirdest thing I've ever said).

I didn't jump into getting another lab because I just had a kid and wanted to see how everything played out this season. I gotta say, not sure I'll be able to go too much longer without one. Just worried that the next one won't be as good as the last one.

I feel your pain.

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Sad times indeed. A new pup is just what you need though.

I've been there jamz,

I bought my second Lab when my daughter was about 10. Great dog, We lost her, Millie, a couple years ago, she died in my daughters arms in the back yard.. Millie was a great dog but never matched up to Casey, my first. It didn't really bother me though, loved her just as much...

I want another really bad, every time a nice litter comes up, I go crazy trying to make up my mind.

I'm 62, live alone and really think another Lab would be a great partner,

I think you should go for it, once a Lab guy, always a Lab guy.
