What do you guys use for a tank feeder? I need one that can stand up by the waterline. Don't have a dock to hang one off.

They make directional feeders that dispense out to about 30'.

I have a Wildgame directional feeder kit that came with barrel, legs, ect. It will throw out the floating fish food 50+ feed with a hot battery. It is still working great after 3 years. The only down side to this feeder is after a heavy blowing rain sometimes the feed will swell in the feeder and you have to remove the face plate and clean out the wet feed. This typically happens 2-3 times a year.

The best fish feeder is generally considered to be Texas Hunter.

I have tried several and issues with all of them in the past. The feeders themselves generally work well but it is the moisture, humidity, fog, steam and rainfall on tanks that caused the issues. The motors, timers and batteries give a lot of trouble. Certain pellet fish feeds clog up very badly. The PondKing feeder above looks very well made but anything floating is PITA to fish around. Sweeney, Diamond, AquaPro, Texas Hunter and few more all make directional bank use feeders. I have used Sweeney and AquaPro and had issues with both of them.

Buy a Texas Hunter,$$$, and you will almost never have problems. If they get flooded, just dry and clean them. They're about a good as you can get.

Texas Hunter is the leader of the pack. Available with either dock legs or adjustable bank legs. The Texas Hunter is built where it is very easy to work on. I had a pair that took a bath for a couple of weeks after a foot of rain. Replaced the timers, batteries and cleaned the mud out.....off and running.

I used to work for a pond and lake management company, and the best pond feeder was the Texas Hunter. But they are pretty expensive.

Since I'm going to have to have the feeder on the bank I want to buy one that I don't have to worry about some damn varmints getting in.

Shea, I have messed with a LOT of fish feeders. Setting one on the bank is an open invitation to hogs, fire ants and coons. Get it on legs and T post them. All 3 of those varmints can ruin your day and good, high protein feed, isn't cheap. Or build a dock and put it at the very end and bolt it down good. Put a gate or barrier to keep hogs off the dock. I put grease on the legs to keep the ants out.

Never had a problem with coons or other animals. TH bank feeders come with rods that drive into the bank and securely anchor the legs. Yearlings rub up against my feeders and I often see where they have licked on the sides bur they have never caused any damage. The lids are very secure....only if you remember to buckle them down. Don't ask me how I know. I assume other brands are similar.
